Winter 2008
The crass comercialism of Xmas is over. Now buy some records.
The actionpop! machine has been grinding pretty slowly since our re-location to the Home Counties, but things are finally starting to click into gear, with a crowded release schedule for the first half of 2008. The news will be HERE when it breaks, so check back soon, OK?
There is a special off-the-cuff Hugh John Noble EP available for free! Get it here.
Holy smoke this one's hot hot hot! Our latest record is an EP from Chiba City's greatest exponents of JAPANOISE!, sl-cisco . Check out this mp3 of the track "Five Years Ago" and then make for the catalogue page and reach for your electronic wallet. And if you don't believe "Japanoise" is a real genre, I read it on myspace, so nuts to you!
Brand new to actionpop! distro: "A Coronet" by Tissø Lake. As usual, sample it at the music page and buy it at the catalogue page.
Be sure not to miss the first actionpop! release from Stockholm's Paddington DC. The album is "Songs in d-struction", and I know I always tell you that you're going to love things, but you ARE going to love this. A magic electro/indie bop that's going to sweep you off your feet on the very first listen. One free sample over at the music page and a convenient PayPal button over at the catalogue page. Don't hesitate!
We are distributing the new Actual Birds album, "Vive La Fantastique" on behalf of Michigan State's extremely delectable Casanova Temptations Edutainment Consortium. Get it inside your ears and feel yourself grow into a better person. Be warned: you may end up with a warmer heart, a broader mind and a crush on some boy called Dustin.
Our limited run of The Wave Pictures' "Sophie" has sold out. But don't fret: you can still buy it from Smoking Gun Records
If I were to tell you that the endlessly speculated actionpop! compilation album, "Champions of Breakfast!" will be coming out some time really soon, you'd probably say "Hugh, I've heard that one so many times over the last 30 months that, frankly, the very idea of this phantom record ever appearing now seems like an absurd but still faintly mouthwatering joke." To which I might reply: "Yes, but so does your face! And anyway, once that last submission arrives (Mike!?) and I've sent a few e-mails and knocked some artwork together, this thing will be all over your record player. And then we'll see who's laughing." And it will probably be you, because you will own a great great record.
Anything else to look out for? Well, Hugh's mysterious new "1993 Let's Go" record is nearing completion. There's a Friendship Hurricane blowing this way. It's almost time for the next Paddington DC installment. And maybe after that, YOUR ALBUM. Why not send your demo to us at this address and see if it makes the grade?
We still got great records by Stars in Coma, Endless Upteens, all of my brother's girlfriends, Mandarin Dynasty, Hugh J and The Picnic and Luisa Mandou Um Beijo for sale, either by instantaneous electronic financial transaction or personal cheque. Yes! it's all "GO" over at the catalogue page!
